Edgerton Trimble Fire in conjunction with the Heart of America Metro Fire Chiefs Council
have teamed up to provide those families in need with Free Smoke Detectors.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, one-third of fire deaths result from fires in properties without working smoke detectors, and the risk of dying in home fires is cut in half with working smoke detectors. The association also reports that smoke alarm failures usually result from missing or dead batteries. The detectors from this program are tamper proof and ensure a working battery during its 10-year life. At the end of the 10 years, the detector needs to be replaced.

Chief Deckman encourages residents in need of smoke detectors to call the Edgerton Trimble Fire Protection District at 816-790-3476 or email your contact info to smokedetec@etfpd.org to receive free smoke detectors.
